Jaxon’s journey with MEGT shows how an apprenticeship can turn passion into a career.
Starting with general labouring work, he discovered carpentry was the path he wanted to follow. Now, he’s gaining real hands-on experience: cutting timber, constructing eaves, and learning from a supportive team every day.

MEGT helped Jaxon access mentoring, connect with training providers, and set up all the financial and practical support he needed to focus on his apprenticeship.
One day, he hopes to run his own business and support future apprentices.

William found his direction early.
After discovering he preferred hands-on work to the classroom, he completed work experience with his uncle and realised carpentry was the right fit. He made the decision to finish school in Year 10 and begin his apprenticeship — securing employment soon after.
“An apprenticeship is a good thing because you get to learn the job and get paid while you do it.”

William already has his sights set on the future. Once fully qualified, he hopes to run his own carpentry business and potentially mentor an apprentice of his own.
